It all began in New York City in 2015 when a man in a suit effortlessly glided by me on a hoverboard, checking his phone. I’ve been into snow sports all my life and the idea that I could replicate that feeling in the off season spoke to me. I bought my first electric skateboard soon after, which led me down a path and into a community that pretty much changed everything. And just like that, well, let’s just say now ski season is my off season.
Many boards and many rides later, I felt it was time to dip into custom builds. I liked different boards for different reasons. The deck from one, the trucks and motors from another and so on. I knew it was possible but I would need some major help.
I was introduced to Cris by a mutual acquaintance. We sketched out an idea for my dream board. He helped me source everything, including a West Coast Standards deck, which was exactly the size, shape and quality that this board demanded. Cris was close to Dave Dirickson, the owner of West Coast Standards and in May of 2022, during the construction of the board, Dave very sadly passed away. Cris and I knew that we owed it to Dave to continue his tradition of crafting these high-quality decks. Thanks to his family, we have the molds and we have committed to keeping the spirit of his craftsmanship alive. These are true artisan decks, crafted with the best materials and the utmost care.
All this to say, welcome to Kynd Board, a true passion project. Special thanks to the eskate community for sharing in the enthusiasm for this niche sport we’ve all come to love so much.
